well my update... I've been to the dr twice now and have not received anymore calls since the initial ones documented here. I have also seen a possible change in office attitude and staff?? for the positive, which is really stretching it with this group!
I am ticked that this happened, but it is compounded by the fact that this dr is a quack. Made the situation more stinky for me... I am an old school nurse and can clearly see that these new doctors are all about making money and absolutely nothing else. They certainly hold us hostage due to the doctor shortage in Ontario.
you might also have a view of www.ratemd.com Quite funny at times. Put in your doctors name and see what others think of him/her too!!!
I called the doctor on Wednesday regarding this company. They told me they are very swamped and have hired this company to help them out. I asked what information has been given to this company, they told me only my name and number and that I am a patient of Dr. M. I asked why no one told me to expect this call as I was concerned that someone had my info, they insist they sent a letter I have my doubts as I didn't receive it. Anyway I told this company when they originally called I would not say anymore till I talked tom my dr. I notice they have called me the last two days in a row, almost as if they knew i had called my dr. on the Wednesday-Creepy. I would definitely not pay this company. As far as I'm concerned the doctor's secretary should be providing me reminders or letting me know about medical business, tests etc and this should be free of charge.
I agree with Miss Trulie....I have looked at the "health screen" website and this is not a medically related company...I also was not warned of this call nor was I informed that my Doctor would be involving NON-medical people (and by this I mean someone who is (A) not in the medical profession (B) Does not work DIRECTLY out of my Doctors office.....in my personal business. If these people have NO information...then how can we be reminded of our medical needs??......I personally am not that adle minded that I can't remember an appointment with my Doctor....
I have not been able to reach "Preventive Care"...to ask any questions. Has anyone else tried?....
As well, I don't know if there is anything that can be done about this short of changing Doctors....the College of Physicians and Surgeons would probably investigate this further if necessary....I personally am feeling that I have been duped by my Doctor and I do not trust him the way I should be able to...but what can you do?
yes, the dr's office has been asked about this service, and the people asking have been brushed off.
Block fees (which this is NOT) are legal
Giving your name and phone number is illegal.
One of the policies of the College of Phy and Surg is that the doctor must NOT breech the trust of his patient, this is breeching the trust, and giving of private information. My telephone is private.
This patient (and the others I talked to) have not been informed prior. The letter that was received by his patients was for "block fees", not this .
I am in the process of leaving this practice, and will be reporting these two doctors to the C of P&S after I have secured another physician, so this Dr C or B can't intimidate me anymore.
