All this would take is the FCC and the FTC to agree to make it illegal to FAKE or SPOOF caller ID info - then back it up with punishment that has 'teeth'.
The telephone companies HAVE the equipment to check the OUTGOING caller ID info and they should DENY the outbound call if the CALLER ID being sent out does NOT match the actual number of the caller.
Wouldn't that be funny if they got a message - "we're sorry - your call cannot be completed - please CORRECT your OUT BOUND caller ID information and please try your call again."
Got a call on my cell yesterday, caller ID said Ontario. Glad I didn't answer.
We need the next Steve Jobs to invent some type of electronic counter measure to this nonsense. Anyone that can come up with an app or gadget that does that will make millions and millions.
