Phones daily, likely an automatic dialer as there is nobody immediately available to respond upon my picking up the phone. After saying "hello" twice I hang up.
This is a computerised system that gives outgoing calls to cell phones now. It is illegal to make marketing calls to home numbers in Canada and and the government is passing a bill very soon to ban all marketing calls into mobile numbers as well.

What their system is doing is conducting a research call to normalise the system in creating a database between valid and invalid numbers. If you answer the phone the following will happen:
You will either receive that the call was lost
Or you will hear a computerised system ask for a certain name
The name does not have to be yours
The whole purpose is to activate a valid or invalid number
If you do not answer the phone and it goes directly to your voice mail the computerised system cannot validate the number therefore it will tag it invalid
What you need to do?
If you live in Canada, all you have to do is contact your Member of Parliment to push the bill to pass or your Member of Provincial Parliament as well as report them to: http://www.recol.ca

Hopefully this helps anyone who is being annoyed by this callers. I live in Toronto and I received a call, I located their system and went directly to their office. The way their phone is set, that when you call from a outside area code, the system indicates that the number is not in service but when you call from a Toronto or a 416 area code number it goes through.
At first I was in Kitchener/Waterloo area when I got the call. I answered it and it was lost. So when I called back, the number showed not in service. When I got back home to Toronto, I made the call it went through.
I threatened them and they took my number and said that I will no longer receive a call from them.
This is my personal experience and I hope this helps any of you.
This number is from TD Canada Trust medical insurance services. probably based in india! just happened to be off sick today, so i answer the call from the pests. bloody bank should keep your number private man!
I keep getting this call repeatedly and I cannot even keep my cordless off the charger! They keep killing it!I wish these people a very short life!They cannot fall off the face of this earth soon enough!When I answer no one is there and when I call back to find out what their problem is,the number is out of order!Please hit these fraudulent idiots hard!!!! They deserve it!!
