First of all I don't have Whatsapp. Many of my international friends do because it's free. Most overseas phone companies charge you for texts hence the demand for free chat devices like this.
Do not click on the link they text you. It is definitely virus linked and spyware to hack your account.
If you get a text like this delete and block ASAP.
