Posted lost wedding ring on colorado craigslist. Received a call from a man that said he bought it from a kid at Walmart. He then said he thought it was strange because it was a wedding ring, so he called the newspaper for lost and found and they told him to try craigslist. My husband describe the ring and the man said yep that's it, but he said he was a trucker and was now in illinois and didn't know when he'd be back. He said he didn't have anyway to send a picture of the ring. We agreed on a price and he said he would call back with shipping cost to the address I gave him. Didn't hear back from him for an hour so I called him, he wanted me to western union him the money to Illinois. I told him I wasn't comfortable sending the money without having any contact information on him. He became very defensive and said I'm just trying to help you and I'm not that type of person to scam people. He tried to make me feel very guilty. He wanted me to send the money to Rockford, IL Western Union to Richard Webb, password "brothers name steve". My husband really wanted the ring back, because it was his grandfathers, and was willing to pay the money, but after the last conversation. I googled for this type of scam and found this page and am very glad we did. His phone # 417-771-1220 from MO. Hope this helps others. Same thing happened to me. Unfortunately I did not google the number until after I sent the money. I had some pool cues stolen, and advertised a reward on craigslist. Guy called, said he was a trucker, and would not be in the area for awhile. I said go ahead and ship it to me. He took my info, and wanted paid with a moneygram. Stupid me sent the moneygram, and he quit taking my calls.
