Oct 19, 2016, got a call from 417-894-8569 on my cell phone. I didn't recognize the number, so I let it go to voicemail. No message left so I'm blocking it. Like others, likely a scam
I think you may be being a bit hard on Ms. Thompson. Not everyone has a complete understanding of the purpose of this site and it probably could be better spelled out in the site's preamble. Folks are frustrated, pure and simple. One added comment; I wonder how many (as in percentage) of these crap calls actually get reported here. I'll wager it is not more than 10% so when I see a large number of reports for a specific phone number it must be really a super wide scam.

Slim, you spend a lot of time berating people who clearly found this site only because they googled the telemarketer's bogus number on their caller ID. How about doing something constructive and identifying these varmints, and posting the info here?
Lots of people complain that the DNC list "does nothing." I disagree. That DNC list is my hunting license. If I can identify a telemarketer, and they are sue-able, I send a demand letter, and if that gets no response, I file suit. I am VERY good at this, and everybody else reading this can be, too. It's not rocket surgery.
The important thing is to identify them -- real name, real address, real agent for service of process, real contractor license number.

I asked for the poster to tell me why they thought we called, so we might better be able to educate people in the proper use of this site. The rest of my post gave links to a local FAQ stating we do not call, and to another FAQ that contains the Fatuously Asked Questions posted here ... with real (and non-smarmy) answers.
We KNOW many people do not visit here. We also know that many posters do not return to read the answers, but the regular posters keep trying to help, in spite of the fact they get more troll responses than "thanks". Yes, the number of posts in a complaint thread might indicate the activity of the scammer associated with that phone number, but it also indicates the activity of trolls or other posters who merely want to get some kind of recognition, such as "Be werry werry quiatt" who also posted in this thread.
The call is NOT from Clinton or Trump campaign. My husband just turned 65, it's from company trying to sell medi-gap insurance. Not sure what the callers who think it's political are trying to communicate.
