Oct 19, 2016, got a call from 417-894-8569 on my cell phone. I didn't recognize the number, so I let it go to voicemail. No message left so I'm blocking it. Like others, likely a scam
Rosemary, unfortunately the no call list only works on legitimate real companies that respect your rights. Scammers and fly-by-night companies who change their names frequently to avoid the law, don't respect anything because they are trying to steal from you. Never give out your social security number or credit card numbers over the phone. Plus, never make up a credit card number either as you more than likely will be giving out an actual credit card number. I heard someone was doing this and didn't realize they may have given out someone's actual credit card number and causing them to have their number given to a scammer who are actually crooks trying to steal peoples identity. Just tell them you don't have a credit card. The best thing you can do is, don't answer the phone if you don't recognize the phone number. Start writing down these numbers you don't know. You can look them up here at 800notes.com as I do when I get calls from numbers I don't recognize. The best thing you can do is get a call blocker machine if you are using a home phone. Call blockers for a cell phone can be downloaded as an app for your phone. Check with your phone company if using a home phone or your cable company provider if you have your phone through them and ask if they provide call blockers. There may charge a cost for this if they do & will just add it to your monthly bill each month.
