I got this call tonight.I thought it may be someone i know since it said Tenessee Call on My home phone #.
The thing is they said they were from some sort of police force and were asking for donations for family victims who had experienced a murder in the family. They insisted on sending me something in the mail incase i decided to donate money.
They knew my exact adress.Which is scary but heck anyone can know your adress when looking at a phone book.
I don't know if it's a scam or not,but it's really got me thinking.
I'm probably going to the police department tommorrow to see if this is legit.
i got the call from 423-208-9421.no one answers and i tried to call back its either busy or just keeps ringing. looks like something could be done about this.if it doesnt stop i think i will contact someone who can handle it or them which ever. thanks
This is most likely a call center handling charities. When you answer you will be "greeted" by someone who will attempt to convince you to donate to a particular cause. Of the charities I've checked, most at least are legit, but there is no way to know for sure, and the tactics are annoying. Your best bet is to answer, let them go through their spiel, and then inform them that you are uninterested and further more, you will never contribute to this or any charity using a call center. You may want to add that you are giving a "cease and desist" notice and that, should they call again, you will contact your attorney.
