I received call from this number about 1/2 hour ago. I did not answer the phone and no message was left. I checked via the internet and it showed the number listed to a Jeff Bender in Collegeville Tennesee. We often receive this type of annoying call, but this was a first from 423-396-9382.
alright so now that its pretty well cleared that someone's trying to scam us or whatever the hell theyre doing is there anything we can do or someone we can contact to try and take care of this?
I'm surprised that not many who have posted complaints realize the real story behind these calls. Telemarketers have been providing false caller IDs for some time, and this is just another example of it. The original owner of the number (in Collegeville) is NOT the person actually calling, it's a damn telemarketer who has mislead us (those who have received the calls) into assuming the calls is from "John" when it really isn't.
Those companies pushing the nonsense about the Extended Car Warranty, Home Mortgages, and so on, all seem to have figured out how to do this illegal and costly deception - I've received numerous calls to my cell phone, but do not answer any longer. All appear to be from some random individual somewhere. They are just as much victims as we are.
I am also surprised that those who with the authority to do something apparently don't get it. If they did, they'd fine and/or arrest the companies/officials who practice this. It isn't hard to figure out who they are - just answer the phone, record the message, and keep a log (on the phone) of the fake IDs. Why is that so hard for the authorities to figure out?
i got a call on Dec 18th at 5.00 pm. I didnt answer or they didnt leave a message.. now i am worndering why we all are getting this call from teh same number.. i recommendation is not answer it it might cost you or they rtreid to do something...
I just called the number and a female answered, denying that it was her who called me. She said that maybe it was a slip of a finger that she might have called me. Yeah........, right.
I got the call while I was extremely bust at work and the last thing that I needed was to be bothered.
