Received call on answering machine today. Lady claimed that my husband had a large chek her law firm could recover for (then she mumbles) w/FEE. Ya right chick. You can tell it's a scam because the lady caller talked STUPID.
Left a message saying there was a cashier's check with a letter to be cancelled. I should call. The only name I could understand from the message was Jenny - and the law firm (blank blank) Anderson. Researching, to my surprise, I found this site.
I to received this call from Jenny Simmons last night. I couldn't understand the message real well but she said she was with the LUther Anderson Law Firm and identified a cashier check made out in my name that was up for cancellation. Said it was important I call her back. What A Scam!
Same identical thing with me, I told her to send the check COD... The law firm does not even know who she is, BBB is looking into this scam..... I haven't rec'd the check
This morning, I received a call from Natasha Lewis from the Luther Anderson Law Firm. Natasha informed me that I was a winner in the Publisher's Clearinghouse Promotion and a check for $250,000 was being held for me. In order to receive this check they had to have certain pertinent information and $680.08 to keep the check from being forwarded to the state. Once they received the information and the money, the check would be sent to me. They gave me the claim number 8855 and the phone number 423-475-7657. I told them I would get back to them after I had checked with the Better Business Bureau and the police department in that area. Natasha then asked me, "What's the Better Business Bureau"? Needless to say, I will never call her back, but do plan on notifying the BBB and the police department in that area as well as Anaheim, CA.
