How right you are Lou! I'm so tired of these merchants selling names & numbers to scam artists. Even if legit, these calls are harassment. Merchants have to understand they need us consumers more than we need them. Plenty of places to spend our money.
How would scammers find out you haven't made your payment? HD has to be involved somehow. I say cut up the card, pay it off, and don't do business with HD again. My first Home Depot payment was due June 2. I tried setting up to pay online and was having trouble, so I finally got someone and made payment by phone on June 2, 8 PM. On June 5, 8:34 AM I started getting calls from this number. I guess the collections department didn't get word I made payment. This is unnecessary harassment. I decided to pay my account in full, cut up my new HD card, and not shop at HD again. If I do shop there I will use Discover or Visa, and let HD get hit with their merchant fee.
