All the legal advice I’m seeing posted here is useless. Don’t bother to call the FTC or fill out the complaint forms. They won’t do anything to help you. If you want to spend the money, you can buy any one of a number of devices on the internet that will block up to at least 80 different phone numbers from calling you. These are electronic devices, they are NOT services from a phone service provider. You will pay an average of about 100 dollars for one of these devices. I assure you that they work, they are worth every cent you pay, and will keep all these weirdos and debt collectors from calling you more than once. Google call blocking devices. If you don't want to spend the hundred dollars, then there's not a whole lot you can do, but there is one thing that might help. Some of the older autodialing programs these bozos use still haven't been updated to take care of this particular tactic. Go on the internet and download a WAV file of the Special Information Tone. This is that annoying series of 3 notes that you hear if a number has been disconnected. Set your answering machine to answer after two rings(this is very important) and then record that tone as your answering message. If you are lucky and the autodial program they are using is an older one, then it will automatically remove your phone number from the list of numbers that it's dialing because it will think it's reached a disconnected number. This only works about 1/3 of the time but it's worth a try if you don't want to spend any money.
Well the only advice that I see in this thread is the advice you can be given which could certainly not ever be considered legal or even accurate. For less than $7.00 this problem can be rectified. Making reports to the CFPB certainly does get results. If you want to stick your head in the sand, please be my guest. I would rather tell people honest accurate information so that they can decide for themselves what is best. Information that may result in their getting a nice check for the harassment.
