This guy called and asked if the name he gave was me, I said yes, (the old how are you tonight scheme)- said I'm not asking for money, you surprised? I said yea, we are helping people who got burned out of their homes, etc. I said i'm busy now and before I could say anything else he hung up. Typical scammer or telemarketer with a new scam. I hate thses guys- they called before and left no message on my asnwering machine , I have caller ID I'll just block this call.

Actually not bogus. They raise money not for the firefighters themselves, but to send severely burned children to a special camp that is run by the state's firefighters. The bands donate time so that as much funds as possible go to Camp Phoenix here in TN. The firefighters don't control the local and state government's spending. They see a gap that truly needs filled so these children and heal both mentally and physically. That's why they do it. Because right now no one else is.
