The subject organization has existed for a fairly long time. They apparently DO advertise fundraising concerts. If they are truly a nonprofit / charitable organization, they are exempt from the Federal "Do Not Call" provisions, BUT they should still cease calling when asked to do so, during the initial call.
The number of complaints in this thread, plus the administrative omissions and BBB nonresponsiveness does indeed seem to show an underlying problem with their practices. Perhaps this can be corrected in the future.
Are you the one who called my home so professionally as you claim last night? I was the gentleman who kept saying to you THREE times "Sir, I really don't want to be rude to you but I simply cannot talk freely right now" and even after three attempts to explain to you that while I did not feel obligated to share the details of what I was dealing with at the time I simply couldn't talk right then, you inferred in your most sarcastic voice (or whoever the man was) that I ddint care about burned children! Eventually slamming the phone down on me when I did NOTHING more not less than very politely explain I simply could not talk right at that moment! What the man didn't know was he happened to have a philanthropist on the phone that he was being so rude to. The reason I didn't just hang up after he was so rude and demand you all remove us from your list is because I was actually interested in making a very large donation. I challenge you to look at my tax returns and find one charitable donation to any organization less than $5,000 last year! The number I was called from was 553-9369 and even though it is within my ability to be more blunt when someone invades my home without regard to my family being on the do not call list and dares to be rude to me. But I guarantee you with a $1,000 cash bet you cannot find one rejection who has ever been more polite than I was. "Yes sir, excuse. Excuse. Yes excuse me sir, I truly don't want to be rude to you but I simply cannot engage in conversation right now I am in the middle of something very important" and even when he ignored me and went on "WELL SIR, I didn't call you to take up a whole bunch of your time" and went right on hand without regard to the fact that I deal with vendors and non profits and charities and clients and employees all day long and I have an office anyone with any decency would call me at, anyone who knows me and has any business calling me would know to call my office, but even though I am home with my little daughter promising her my undivided attention and trying to politely explain I cannot talk now (and never was permitted a word edgewise to say "if you want to call my OFFICE during business hours and show respect to my time at home with my family, my staff will be happy give you a credit card number and support your work"), I cannot talk right now because I'm in the middle of something important" this arrogant, rude individual who should be ashamed to represent his fire dept, his god and his momma, had the audacity to say (instated of "I'm sorry I'll try back at another time") "well sir I think burning children are important and I would think you would to" along with some slurs that weren't legible and then he had the audacity to hang up on me. How many times I wonder do you all wish people would at least give you the respect of not slamming the phone down and being [***] holes to you? Well sirs you get what you give and it's no wonder people don't treat you all with respect (as I did) because you don't know how to treat anyone else with respect. You don't even have the simple decent breeding or raising to recognize you've entered a family's home and they allowed you to cross that line even though they have a clear block to keep a respectful barrier between our business and our home. Im not sensitive about my PHONE Sir! I own at least 18 phones you all could call me own during business hours and I or someone assigned to these things on my start would talk to you. You just didn't have the decency to wait and call us during business hours. You didn't have the decency to accept my first, second or third attempt to ask you politely to let me go. When you finally gave up instead of being gracious to the one polite caller you had, you had the audacity to slam the phone down! Did you even make it out of junior high school Sir? Your level of ignorance and disrespect goes beyond that of any $9/hour telemarketer I've ever seen and frankly I would love to know who your parents are and what prison they are serving time in. I've met more than a few people suffering with mental illness before but you just might be the worst case of pure ignorance I've ever come across.
This was the most rude and out of line caller I've ever known and I employee dozens of telemarketers. This caller would've been terminated the first hour. Check that. I never wouldve hired him. Whoever did should be ashamed of himself. This mans momma should be ashamed of herself.
