I've been receiving calls from this number for about a month, and today decided to answer.  I have call-blocking software (Phone Tray), and every one of these calls is not being blocked which leads me to believe this 423-822-2465 number is spoofed.

Today's automated phone call stated they are from CVS/Caremark, and asked if I am (Name).   The system then asked me for my DOB, and I gave them a fake one and the system repeatedly asked me for my b-day.  Eventually the system said to call back 877-477-1442 and provide a pin # and then disconnected.  I phoned the 877# and was asked if I am over 55.  I answered 'no', and was give an recorded spiel; this recording was different than incoming call. Eventually the recording disconnected, so I then phoned the 423 # which asked the same questions as their original phone call.

Do not give out any information if you do get this call.  I just phoned CVS Caremark, and they did some research while I was on hold. They called the 423# number and were unable to connect. They then told me they do not have any affiliation with Chattanooga, TN, and that if it really was CVS calling, it should display on the caller id.

By the way, the phone number they are calling is NOT the one listed in my CVS/Caremark account.  Even though some report this as CVS/Caremark,  it's just smarter to never give out personal information.

Received an automated robo call from this number at home.  It said: "This call is for <my name> with important prescription refill information."  The robo dialer tried to confirm that it was speaking to <my name>.  When it could not (because it was the vm system), it said to call 866-537-2393 and when prompted, enter your personal 7 digit code.  It stated the code.  When I called the 866 number, the recording said:  Thank you for calling <my insurance company>, please enter your personalized 7 digit code.  I did so.  It then asked me to state my date of birth at which point I hung up for the very reason that many have stated here.  In this day and age when identity theft, spam and data tracking is big business, when you receive an unsolicited call from an automated system that doesn't identify the caller and it asks for personal information, you'd be stupid to just give it up.

I called my insurance company and they checked both the medical side of my plan and the prescription side and they said neither made any such call.  I gave them the 866-537-2393 and they said it is not one of their numbers.  I googled that number and found one report where a poster said: "Called pretending to be my insurance company".

Since the original robo call came from 423-822-2465 I googled it and found this page.  So now I know that the call came from CVS.  Yes I fill my prescriptions from CVS but why all the subterfuge?  Why didn't the caller ID indicate the call came from CVS and why did CVS pretend at 866-537-2393 that they were my insurance company calling?  I am on the DNC list and I still receive shady calls from unknown area codes and "private callers" every day.  Why would CVS choose to employ the standard phone tactics of these shysters and telemarketers?  Do they really need to do this?

So now I know the call was probably legit but it doesn't matter.  The reason identity theft is so easy is that so many people don't think twice about handing out personal info to just about anybody who asks.  CVS is a reputable company but these phone shenanigans are not.
