I just received my 3rd call today from an unfamiliar number (423-888-0584). I usually receive 5 to 6 calls per day from various numbers. Spoofing phone numbers have been around for a long time. Private Investigators have been doing it for, a while. Modern technology allows anyone around the world to spoof someone's number. There are companies that offer the service and programs you can buy that do the same. The US Anti ID Spoofing laws and the Do Not Call list cannot prevent someone from a call center in Nigeria, India, Germany, or anywhere else from making harassing calls. Never answer them unless you feel like messing with the other person on the end. Websites like this offer a place to vent frustration and give others a heads up about spoofed numbers and the unscrupulous. There are services that offer phone number tracking and offer to tell you who it was that called you, but there is a price. Even then, it is likely that their number was spoofed and they are victims as well. Spoofed number tracking and blocking can be done by telephone companies, but it will cost. The cost will obviously be passed on to the customer. Hope this helps someone :-) Simply don't answer an unfamiliar number....if it's legitimate, then they will leave a message.
