i have received several times from this number and when i was picked up my phone she is calling on behalf on national diabetes association and ask me if there's someone in my household has diabetes. i am a diabetic person and she started to discuss me about the reason of the call i listened and understand the words she said. which infact it could benefits me bcoz they will gonna send diabetes package with no cost on my part and since i already have my testing supply why should i accept this one to use as my buck-up meter and they dont have harm intention try to listen to them. i am happy i got a phone call from NDA which i enjoyed my talking glucometer now  and its true no cost on my part.

They are non profit so they are exempt from the do not call law. Just call the number and choose the option to use their automated system to have your number removed from their database. Problem solved.

There is a June 7, 2011 post here where the author indicates that he was told by one of their representatives that they were not a "non-profit".

The IRS (IRS.gov) does not have a name even similar to 'National Diabetes Association' in their non-profit database.  And neither wikipedia nor Charity Navigator has any information on them.

True, if you call the 424-354-5100 there is a recording that says they are a non-profit; but, I can say I'm a non-profit too.    (And folks, on that recording doesn't the "push 1 to speak to a live representative" and "push 9 to be removed from the calling list" sound almost too similar to the lower your credit card interest rate scams -- pushing 9 never worked for those.)

I've found an additional half-dozen or more reasons to be highly skeptical of this group -- will try to list them later.

At any rate,  nobody has any obligation and it is likely unwise to be revealing either ones own or a family members personal medical history and conditions to unknown phone callers, especially when they ask for medicare ID numbers.    It's none of their business and please don't feed them.
