Continued repeated calls with a synthesized computer generated voice from officer Nikki Johnson from Internal Revenue Service threathing to take immediate action unless the call is returned.
The IRS never calls anyone
this number left a message for my son to call a Steve walker with the irs. When he called back he was told that mr walker was not available, he was asked if he had a case number. Asked if he had a criminal attorney. Told he was being investigated and criminal charges were being made. He owed 4,988.54 in back taxes and would soon be picked up on a warrant. Told he had been sent 2 registered letters. When my son handed me the phone the person could not answer my questions. I asked if this was a scam and was hung up on. He spoke with an accent. From India.
I received the same call from officer agent Nicky Johnson. When I returned the call she was not available but a middle aged man with accent (India maybe) told me I owed back takes and am being sued. They wanted my attourney's information. I explained I had no idea what they are talking about as I pay my takes every year. He explained I was being sued and would be arrested, loose licence..... all kinds of stuff making no sence to me. When I said this is a complete joke he hung up. I called back to ask more and again he hung up. I was doubting the authenticity and my questions indicated this. I did not call back again but rather looked on line only to find this is a scam. The IRS said if you owe back taxes they usually contact you by mail. In addition the IRS said they will not get the police or law enforcement involved because you owe taxes. Think about it (and I did). If I owed takes would the IRS file a lawsuit against me (which costs a lot of money) without even officially serving me a letter asking me to pay the money? I am reporting this number 428-444-0110 to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration.
