just got the same call, I won a government grant and that I needed to take this number down, my so called grant ID # JK202 in my case. So I played along took down the number the whole time trying not to laugh, then he gave me his managers number 425-296-7936, and said you need to call right away, in the next 5 seconds, blah, blah, I let him continue to insist I call, and when he got around to, "so can I tell my supervisior to expect your call? " I said sure why not, but I can tell you right now, I am not calling anyone because this is a scam, and I was not born yesterday. So shame on you! Click went the phone.
same here i got a call about 20 min. ago from a guy calling from a unavailable # who told me my name but wrong address. He then said i qualified for $7500 in grant money. he asked me if i'm wondering how thats possible I said yes and then he said the government did a survey in my city and who ever didnt have a felony or didnt file for bankruptcy would get the money. i verified my address going along with it and he asked how would i like to receive my money cash, depit, or direct deposit through my checking or savings, so of course i said cash. he then gave me this # to call 425-296-7936 and told me to give them a pin # which was MN509. I had to call the # 3X before the lady answered. she then repeated my info to me and told me that i had to go to a western union and deposit $251 and that i would need my ID. I asked her why did i have to deposit money she said to do a ID check to make sure i was the correct person and that i would get the money back plus the $7500. so i said ok she asked me how long would it take for me to get to a western union and i said an hr and she insisted on asking me again did i have the money to deposit i told her yes, so she said make sure i call her back before i go inside to the western union so she can pull my info up. Before getting of the phone I asked her what was her name and she act like she didnt understand the question so i asked her again she then studderd and said shaqina not to be judge mental or rasist because trust me i'm very far from it, but i didnt know indians, arabs or what ever she was had getto names so i laughed on the phone and repeated her name back to her and said ok and got off the phone. i have to admit they had me going that sounded real tempted lmfao. but i looked on line to see what i could find on scamming and this came up so thanks so much for having this site bye.
This people are very busy just got the same call all most had me but not so willing to give away my $$$ some one really needs to stop this crazy [***] people wtf.
I was just called ten minutes ago by the same people saying the same thing.
It's a shame the lengths scam artist will go to. He even told me his name was Sam Harris but the guy was obviously from India or Pakistan. There are no Sam Harris's from there.
I just received a call from 425-296-7936. I just recently applied for a student loan, so maybe they got my info from that, because the lady on the phone, named Sharon (didn't know Indians had such names) recalled my personal info. She told me I qualified for a $7500 government grant and I was selected because I pay my taxes on time, no bankruptcies, and no criminal history. Then she asked if I wanted the funds direct deposit, loaded on a credit/debit card or cash. At this point everything is sounding too good to be true, but I played along, so I told her loaded on a credit/debit card. At that point she gave me that number to call and told me to give her Senior Account Manager the Government pin# she assigned to me. Of course the first thing I did was look the number up and I found this site. Thanks for the warning, we need to report fraud and scams as they happen so that it could save someone from disaster. In this economy there are a lot of vultures preying on the weak minded or financially strapped folks who are desperate for any kind of bail out, but we must not allow that to overrule logic and common sense: There's no such thing as "free money" from the government.
