I keep getting calls from this number and once they left a message saying "This is National Home Protection...are you there?" And that is it. It sounded like a real human, but it is most likely pre-recorded.
Same as below, today at ~2:45 EST via cell phone. Looked up number and found this board. Since it's a specific annoying number that originates in a known location, surely the FTC or FCC or someone can block it, no?
This looks like a minor-league extortion scam: do something or else we'll keep calling. I'm guessing when you do whatever it is (press "1", etc.) it runs up long-distance bills on your account or something like that.
For that matter, it's not obvious to me that this web site isn't part of something similar, although what the profit could be, besides possibly some bizarre sociology graduate school project, remains opaque.
You guys are right, they are doing the auto-dialing/robo calls. One of current area codes they are hitting is obviously 916 (Sacramento Valley, Northern CA).
You guys said they were home security/protection....They probably want to rob your house, take your money via phone, any way they can scam you and steal from you!
Wish there was a group that would locate and remove these scammers.
