Did you stay at Yosemite or Reno, NV in July 2012? I started getting telemarketing calls after completing a phone survey for a Reno, NV hotel I stayed in. The telemarketing calls got worse after I received automated calls from Yosemite regarding the hantavirus outbreak during my stay. Was my phone number sold by the hotel's survey contractor or Yosemite (actually Deleware North Companies)?? Did this happen to you too?? Solution: Never take a phone survey. Never answer a number you don't recognize.
I pressed 5 to be connected with a live person and asked the person how they got my number and why she was calling me even though I am on the national do not call list. She said, "I'm not sure. You just popped up on my computer. I'll go ahead and make sure your number is removed from our list." and promptly hung up before I could inquire further.
These people are BREAKING THE LAW and should be prosecuted as criminals.
Getting calls for electric reduction rates. Doubt it is even for that. Probably just want address, credit card or bank account numbers. Other areas I get calls from are:206, 805, 609, 973, 253, 901, 360, 209, 801, 334, 800. All are scams and seem to be from private residential #'s Most of these calls are coming from Pacific Tel customers. If I don't recognize the number I just keep hitting 7, I heard it messes up their computer.
PS the 800 number is 800-123-4567. Apparently they can pay to use this # if they don't want you to know who is calling. Good Luck Everyone. It's time to call your phone provider and complain, complain, complain!!!!
