According to the non-answer I got when I questioned my US Senator, apparently forever. My solution?
I bought a 'call blocker'. Search with Google, and you'll find one that is suitable to truly handle this constant badgering by phone that the government passes laws to stop, and then does nothing to do so.
I have received 2 calls from this number, one of them being this morning. It was also about lowering my credit card rates. I'm wondering if these people got my number from the one credit card I use? Did they sell my cellphone number to them? I spoke to AT&T and they told me it couldn't be blocked because it was a robo number and not a landline. My husbands gets this type of call almost everyday. I'm not going to pay a company to stop the calls. There should be something we can do.
I did go on the government do not call registry and registered a complaint with this particular number.
I have been registered to not receive these calls so now every time I do, I register it with the government. It was a robo call about lowering interest rates on your credit cards - definite phishing scam. These have been going out to land lines and cell phones from several numbers and it's been happening with more and more frequency. Don't know if FCC is doing anything about it or not., Nothing in the papers or on the news/internet about action being taken.
To Aily: You used to have to re-register every year or so, but now you only have to register the one time at the do no call government registry.
look at every page on face book and make sure your number is not on there, I found a lot of friends numbers a few months ago just looking through their pages and I was shocked, not sure how I found them and not sure if they can still be seen with the new page timeline formations.. but its better to be safe than sorry.
