Messing with them is so much fun! I got a manager on one of those fake IRS calls, and he got so frustrated with me that he told me never to call there again. I'm sure if I really owed the IRS money, they wouldn't tell me to F off!
I say we all mess with them because it frustrates them and gives them less time for the people who fall for these scams.
I too returned the call for amusement value. I got to speak with "Austin Skylar" badge # 117086. Distinct Indian/Pakistani accent for a person who claimed to be in Pennsylvania. He claimed a representative attempted to visit me on August 2nd, but I was not home. I asked why they did not leave a notice, etc etc. I asked how much I owed and after some delay he told me I owed $6930 for 2010 taxes and insisted on knowing if I had immediate access to that kind of money. He was going to send me to a Supervisor to resolve this matter, but I informed him that I was a member of the FBI Anti-Fraud taskforce and we wanted an address to come visit him. He said he had to hang up.
Male voice, British accent, using the exact "David Gray" script shown above, left a voice mail message on my landline 9/29/15. I might mess with "David Gray" and call him back. I'll keep everyone posted regarding the true intent of the calls. At some point, they are going to be asking for money--credit card info, banking info, etc.
