This caller is supposedly attached to a mortgage company, as they called claiming they wanted me to refinance with them immediately. That is 1st time I've actually answered them. The message on their voicemails they leave repeats the same thing... That I qualify for a personal loan of $35,000 right now and I must speak to a loan consultant to receive it.
Funny part, it then says to hit 5 to remove my number from their call list. Within 24hrs after hitting to remove my #, the calls doubled, then tripled.
When I did answer the call, I was pretending to not be me so I could get them to leave a msg for "me", but they wouldn't give me any info, even when I explained that " she (me) doesn't return calls or answer unknown messages." Then after that the female caller said she would call back soon, and hung up on me.
Now I get calls until 10pm from same number. Even on a prepaid (VA#) phone registered to my aunt, they call her number too, bit when she googles it, it says this # is a disconnected # and that companies are ghost spoofing the call on a disconnected #.
Just received a call from the number identified. I did not answer it. Thanks for the info, I blocked the caller. Hopefully that will solve the problem.
I also received a call today. I have a problem with someone who has transferred/forwarded her phone to my number (same area code, but different prefix and number)
Hung up on me when I tried to explain that I don't have any debt and that I suspect they are trying to reach this woman.
Thanks everyone. I've had a similar experience as the majority of the posters. I received a call, however I do have student debt, but the time of day and the automation along with the lack of caller-id was fishy. So I looked it up before taking action. The call mentioned a "new law" passed by congress to forgive student debt. Be careful when and if you get a call from them.
