Called and caller ID said "URGENT". It was a recorded message about a "free" emergency alert bracelet (like "I've fallen and I can't get up). They said push 1 for more information. I did, and they put me through to a guy who asked my name and "the best number to call back on". I said "the one you just called." He then proceeded to give me the sales pitch for a full five minutes. He said you only pay the monthly monitoring fee, it has a range of 800 feet ("more than an eighth of a mile"), and it comes with $3000 of grocery coupons you can use "at the same stores you shop at right now." 458 area code is Oregon. I am on the do not call list and have an unlisted phone number.
Received a call from this number, usually don't answer numbers I don't recognize, but this said "Urgent", and since I live in an area where out of control WILDFIRES are burning! I thought this might be a preliminary evacuation order, nothing but dead air. We are on the "Do not call list" , but what good is being on this list if the FCC is not going to or can't enforce anything withe these scammers! Sadly my blocked numbers list is getting filled up with these con artist idiots, so much for thinking technology could outsmart them!
