I find some of the remarks posted about these ‘faux telemarketer calls’ amusing. I put together a software program that has logged over 380 of these nuisance calls since 2012. Those of you that let the calls roll to your answering machine, voicemail or worse yet answered the call you have just ensured you will get another of these calls. Maybe not from the same number, but they’ve just identified your number as valid and passed it on. Most of the initial calls originate from software (aka; ‘robocalls’) – once your number is identified as active, then a person may be there on the follow up calls. If you have the capability to ‘block’ the number that called – that is the best action. If you don’t have a blocking option, keep a phone with caller ID close by and simply hit ‘talk’ and ‘off’ simultaneously. This will reduce the number of nuisance calls, but not stop them. If you really want to block them – there is software available that a layman can install. Of the 380 calls I’ve blocked, only 16 have been in the last 6 months. So the message is simple – blocking works….
PS: I think Call Notes should add a 'Call Type' for 'Spoof' or 'Scammer Calls'!
Aldo, you are talking to others of us that got calls from these jerks. Who the heck are you yelling at? Get a call-blocking phone. Your lawyer is never going to help you with it. Nobody is. These callers do not care that you are upset or on the DNC list. And they most certainly don't read your posts.
I have an issue that I have been keeping quite about for a long time thinking it will subside but it never does. Below is a posting I put on a website pertaining to calls people get and to save myself type I will copy and paste it here. Comcast needs to look at recycle numbers carefully before reissuing them to new customers in good standing. Also they need to triple or leave open fully the amount of calls that can be blocked because it is such a low number that can be blocked it fills up so fast then one has to flush it out and start all over to re-block the more current solicitation calls.
Caller Type: Telemarketer?
Phone Number Report 458-201-1435: I got a computer generated call from this number 2:10pm (Central Time zone) and I know it was because when answered and I speak you can hear a computer transfer click taking you to a live person. It was a girl who 1st asked if I was the man of the house or head of & then gave her name whereby I said I am glad you know who you are (jk) because I am no stranger to such malarkey. Then she started to ask me a question... I immediately interrupted her and said is this a call solicitation?
Whereby she continued as if I said nothing and asked if I was either for or against abortion. I then told her I did not appreciate such calls whereby she hung up on me. On my caller ID it said Eugene OR. After she hung up I called back never getting a live person only a generated message stating if I wanted to be removed from their call list to enter #1. We as victims it seems have zero recourse to stop these calls within the current matrix we exist.
Like another poster mentioned we can block their number up to a point, although Comcast only allows a few before its full and they just call from another number again and again anyway. I also receive tons of calls over the years continuously from debt and credit collectors asking for a “Mr. Sanxxxx” who obviously was the previous owner of my current number from Comcast and this drives me nuts. Why Comcast allows previously known bad creditors (as they probably did not pay Comcast fully either) phone numbers to be reused / recycled by new customers is unfair. Also a number even if Comcast does not know is bad still should never be so soon recycled back into the system to help prevent these occurrences.
My number is not unlisted but I doubt that would make a difference since the number had a prior bad history of debt. How one bad customer can put bad onto their phone number then it goes to an innocent? Surely with the brainstormers and intellects at Comcast getting paid good money annually can come up with more than a few reasonable solutions and implement them in a timely fashion as this issue has been neglected for YEARS with me and thousands of others although they may not try to make it better like I do by bringing it to light. Therefore Comcast should pay me for my help or at least credit my bill for my suffering & pain as it has taken away my serenity on far too many occasions. I may call them and request a new number but who is to say the cycle won't repeat as all numbers are recycled, until they take note of my honest caring effort to help them help themselves thereby helping the buyer and seller of said services. End. = Aggravated.
