This number left automated message on my answer machine that IRS has a lawsuit pending to call 469-212-8030. Did not give name of who is was supposed to be for. Since I had 3 at my address who file taxes, I called to find out who it was supposed to be for. First attempt, after about 20 rings, no answer. Second call, 3rd ring answered. A man with a thick mid eastern, India accent answered. Told him above info, asked who is this for. He asked who I was, I said WHO ARE YOU LOOKING FOR? Then gives my name, I acknowledge that is me. Then he proceeds to say the IRS audited my 2009 to 2014 returns and the numbers did not match and I owed $2000, that I needed to pay today, or the authorities would be sent to arrest me. I said I'm not paying anything without some written documentation showing what I owe. He says they would send the documentation after payment was made, so I need your answer, and again threatened being arrested. Told him I will be talking to my lawyer. He again threatened the authorities would be sent to my house to arrest me, take away my driver's license and SS card if payment was not made today. I said, do what you have to do and hung up! Thankfully, I have a friend who is an H&R block tax person, who I immediately called and relayed above. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM. Says has been going on for years. If it were really the IRS, 1st they would not call you in that way, and 2nd you would get documentation. These things make my blood boil. How many elderly or uneducated people who don't understand, get had by these predators.
