Got the same call as everyone else above. Dennis Grey claiming he's from the US Treasury in Desoto TX threatening criminal action if his call is not returned.
Well, I am nearly 74 and I did not fall for it! Put a note next to the phone and tell dad not to answer any calls that are not recognized by him. Relatives or local only, perhaps.
3/27/15 11:12 PDT Not sure what to say except that I had the same message as most of the previous reports. Saw De Soto on ID and the only one I know is a classic car. Message is less than believable since this "Dennis Gray" has a fairly heavy accent and I don't think the treasury dept. would have any reason to call me. Please give us a break! There is no reason for us to be getting these calls except seniors are the biggest targets these days and we need to get the message out to seniors that they are all targets and to be very careful about who we speak to and give info to.
There needs to be an additional category in the call type for obvious scammers. I don't think that prankster is really a good category, but think it should be replaced by something that is more descriptive of the calls that are obviously intended to threaten and frighten the uninformed into giving out info.
Latest scam!! Claiming to Treasury Dept. coming after us. First clue, ID is Desoto TX. Second name of caller on message, Dennis Gray (accent is anything but, probably India or Pakistani) As far as I can tell, there is no reason for the Treasury to be calling private citizens or threatening us if we don't call them back. My fervent wish is that we could the word out to anyone who might receive a call from these a**holes not to give them any info. I know there are many older citizens who don't have answering machines and/or caller ID (my 95-yr. old Mom is one) and we need a way to inform and protect them from this garbage.
I just received the same call. I am in my forties, but get a lot of telemarketing calls for "seniors," probably intended for my parents (they don't even live with me) who are in their eighties. Even though they know better than to fall for this stuff, I called them just in case, because they will probably get the call next. We have both already been the recipients of another attempted tax "info gathering" scam a few months ago. Luckily, that one failed, too. Sometimes, I wonder why I'm even on the FCC "do not call" list and why I waste my time filing complaints almost daily with all of the telemarketing calls I receive because I keep receiving them!
