I have gotten repeated calls from this number for the last week telling me that I have to pay restitution and that I have charges against me. Wanting me to pay $758 and telling me that my bill is $1150 plus some charges. You call the number back and you may not get the person who called you and they don't answer with anything but their name. Can we say scam scam scam??!!!!!!!! They say they are in South Carolina. They're out of Texas!
A phone call, email or text message from a supposed debt collector is not legally sufficient evidence of debt.
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:
* Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money. ["Written" means snailmailed ... not emailed or texted]
Therefore, if that caller wants you to pay immediately, before you get the written validation notice via snailmail, or if the caller wants payment via green dot, Western Union, or other untraceable means, then the call is definitely not legitimate.

This number has called members of my family n myself stating I owe money and if not paid I will be arrested? Then once I found out this was bs they called back and said my family n I are -----ucking scum.

Some Victoria person called me from this number saying that I have a bench warrant out for check fraud...Um really? Then wanted me to verify my name (clearly she had the last name wrong) , dob and address. I told her she had the wrong person and hung up on her. I don't verify not one ounce of info to anyone over the phone especially when you don't announce yourself and the nature of your call. SCAM!!
Ugh. This number calls our COMPANY looking for S** R****** MULTIPLE times a day. Maybe legit, maybe not.
She tell me she'll be arrested, and she'll be "talking to the judge about her"
They're bullies, calling for her 4 or more times a day. I finally told them I wasn't going to be answering their calls if all they were going to do was harass ME, someone who doesn't owe anyone anything.
