Called my cell at 1:45 on a Saturday afternoon. After reading these comments I'm sticking with my policy of not answering unknown numbers. If it's real, they'll leave me a message. Meanwhile I hope congress and consumer organizations succeed in forcing telephone companies to intercept robocalls.
Robocall. These things are getting more intelligent. I told it not to call me ever again, and it responded by apologizing and said it would remove my phone, wow....
Their company name was a holding company under the name Service Center Enterprise. They did a trick by purposely entering a bunch of numbers before their number (so that I couldn't see the number from my statement). My bank had their number though. But because they are a holding company, my bank says ANY company in their network had the authority to charge my card. But the real nightmare is they are using FAKE RECORDINGS of people that will say your FULL NAME and pretend to be you, and then they play it for the bank, along with showing them the call time stamp, and make the bank think you authorized whatever their actor says. VERY SMOOTH TRICK THAT BANKS CANNOT GET AROUND. My banker said they have to charge me, and the District Attorney was VERY AWARE of this trick, but said my only recourse is to file a suit against the company in their state, which would cost me tens of thousands to defend. But the District Attorney rep was nice enough to look up the company and see that the company that does the charges is the processing division that has no money in it. So it's worthless to sue anyways, and they said the company just keeps setting up many of these "processing" shell companies. If you talk to telemarketers you GET WHAT YOU DESERVE!
Talked to me about donating funds to wives of law enforcement who dies. My heart went out and I donated $25. Never got a charge on my credit card......BUT THEN 2 weeks later got a $250 charge on my card!!!! I called the # on my bank statement but it just puts you on hold. So I disputed the charge with my bank. The bank came back saying they had a recording clip they heard of my voice saying YES to the amount of $250. The bank called their rep with me on 3 way and I heard a voice similar to mine- BUT NOT MINE!!! I told the bank but they said I would need to file a civil suit against company in their state. I didn't want to pay thousands in attorney fees- and these guys KNOW that. Long story short I LOST the dispute and they charged my card $250. Then next month they charged $250 again, claiming it was an automated I agreed to. Another dispute for weeeks and paying an attorney $500 got my second $250 charge refunded back to me, and bank forced me to change my credit card number and issued me new one. DO NOT TALK TO THEM OR GET WHAT YOU GOT COMIN!!!!
I received one of these robo calls. I let the idiot machine go on for a few minutes and then politely stated that I was with the Cyber Crimes Division of Tarrant County and if this idiot would stay on the phone just a few more seconds, I would lock onto his system and come have a little talk with him. He nearly broke his arm hanging up the phone.
