I had a message start popping up every time I went on Firefox. It said that my Norton Antivirus software had found a virus, and that I should call the 1888-258-5284 for help. RED FLAG....I don't have NORTON!!! An Indian man, told me to remove the virus it would cost a fee of $100! SCAM!!! Googled: Firefox has virus, follow this and now everything is fixed! http://www.malwareremovalguides.info/how-to-r ... ozilla-firefox/
I got call from the same number. He mentioned that requested help, which I did not. I told him that I have norton virus protection and all is well. He insisted on helping to fix the problem for which I told that I busy in meeting and finally hung up. This call is cam to infect virus and runin our computer
My mom has a super slow computer, so when they called her she thought they would help and allowed them to remote into her computer that's when they asked for money. (Indian Man) Told her she could pay through Citi Bank. She told them she didn't have a Citi Bank account and he said "Don't you buy stuff online?" she said "no I don't" and he gave her this number to call back if she wanted more help. She called me and asked if that was normal because she didn't feel like it was. That's when I googled the number and found this... She changing passwords as I type.
An older friend got a similar call from this number - claimed to be calling from "Windows." Talked to her for a long time and got her to look at stuff on her computer. I'm concerned that he got info that would allow remote access. Fortunately, there's no financial/banking info on the computer.
I've been getting calls on a regular bases from a company called Tech. Dept. of Windows. They always say that my computer has a virus and I need to let them have access so that they can repair my system. I asked them how they would know I had a virus unless they were the ones who put it on there. I hung up on them but they are persistent and continue to call back on a regular bases.
