I had a message start popping up every time I went on Firefox. It said that my Norton Antivirus software had found a virus, and that I should call the 1888-258-5284 for help. RED FLAG....I don't have NORTON!!! An Indian man, told me to remove the virus it would cost a fee of $100! SCAM!!! Googled: Firefox has virus, follow this and now everything is fixed! http://www.malwareremovalguides.info/how-to-r ... ozilla-firefox/
Had a similar call. Got quite wound up as I knew it was a scam, ended up having a go at him and hanging up. Have had numerous calls since asking if I abused their staff - told them all the same; I abused him and I'll continue to abuse anyone who bothers calling me from the same "company". Unfortunately TPS registration doesn't affect foreign callers such as these. Irritating, to say the least. Never, under any circumstances grant a cold-caller remote access to your PC as they have all the tools/intention to lift various personal details, bank information etc.
Just got a call about my computer having problems. The caller asked if I was on the computer, I said no, he mentioned microsoft. he insisted I get on my computer and he would help. I asked for his phone number 469 675-6068 and his name was James. I finally hung up on him.
I got the same run around from 469-675-6068 althou my phone showed private number he gave it to me. He said his name was Max and wanted me to call him back tomorrow between 12 and 8pm so he could tell me about his company. We got into a verbal merry go round about him telling me about it now on HIS dime NOT mine. Told him this was a scam told me no that doesn't happen--- yah right... So BEWARE! ! !
I hung up on him.. He was from India or the far East area, could hardly understand him.
This guy identified himself as Mark Wilson and told me my computer was showing signs of malicious activity, that he needed to remote control and clean it up. I allowed him to connect for two minutes when I expected a scam and then disconnected my internet connection.
Thank God I had a paid service that cleaned up their mess. I use Advanced Tech Support who did connect and used several programs to take out t he hooks that guy put in. Now I need to call my bank and credit cards
An anonymous number called my house phone (which is on the do not call list). He (with an Indian accent)told me that he was from the Windows Support Center and that my windows computer was "infected." He told me to go to www.support.me and type in the 6- digit code 868278. He also said that his service number was 469-675-6068. After that, I said he was full of it and hung up. After that i found a download progress screen and immediately powered down my computer. I feel that if I stayed on any longer, all of my personal information and credit cards would have been compromised.
