Received call yesterday, recorded since my husband and I do not answer when the number cannot be identified. Was a request to call back but none of the IRS, name or investigation info that others have received. Have had calls from this voice before with the message regarding an IRS investigation. Definitely "spam" call.
new hoax out there. With an odd accent they claim there is a federal investigation and you are asked to call them back. My suggestion is if they don't identify themselves and specifically answer why they are calling, never respond to them.............ever! The federal government does not call us in such a malicious way. I am close to the point where I will not accept any solicitations except from family members! This kind of stuff needs to be fixed.
This is far from being a new hoax; it has been around for several years. As it originates from overseas there's little to be done to "fix it" as you said, except by investing in a call blocker or at least by never answering phone calls from numbers you don't recognize.
I got a call from this number today. I'm so used to these supposed creditors calling me that whenever I see numbers I don't recognize, especially ones from other states, I just don't pick up. I saw on Good Morning America a while back though that you can legally fight back with a lawyer if you keep recordings and logs from their calls. You may even get money out taking legal action.
Last week intercepted a call from this number,the foreign sounding guy was threatening our 90 yr old aunt who lives with us.When I got the phone,he started threatening me and her,saying that if we didn' cooperate with him,he was going to send the police.I begged him to send them,and come with them so I could personally kick his [***].I missed his call today on our home phone and it was the same voice.I hope he calls back.
