I answered a call from this number and it was an automated operator asking if I needed prayer. I do, so I pressed 1 as instructed. They asked for my name and gave just enough time for me to state my name. After that the operator stated that I would have 10 seconds to state why I needed prayer if I would like to. I said that I need prayer for "immediate and extended family problems". There was just enough time for that statement. After they said that they will pray for me and will call within 24 hrs to pray with me. It's only been a few moments since I hung up so I cannot report on the follow up call just yet. When it comes to prayer I will take all I can get lol. They did not ask for any personal information other than my name and a brief description of what I needed prayer for so I felt comfortable accepting this call. It's odd but like I said we need prayers so badly right now and I like to believe there are genuine Christians out there so here's hoping.
Yes this is the newest (not really) scam pay for pray. There's at least a half dozen (or more) St. Mary's prayer lines making calls. They're setting the bait up now and will hit with the pay part later (of course coming from grateful prayer recipients). Similar to TV Evangelist and not to far removed from the traveling salvation shows of decades past. There is nothing new under the sun and what's old is new. If you need a prayer, try going to your local church (you pick the denomination) and deal with the real thing-and you know what? It's free!
Just got this call like 30 minutes ago. Last night I dreamt I was being bewitched and today I get a call asking if I need a prayer which was scary to me lol I was about to press 1 and go through it but then I thought about it. I feel much better now knowing it's just a scam
I am not catholic...but I used to be. Interesting thought. It hs not difficult to get the rolls of catholics in any particular area. And most former catholics are still on the rolls.
