It's a scam. I got their voicemail, claiming to be State Farm, so I called my local agent to see if there actually was a problem with any of my accounts, and they said no. So I gave them the scammers number and they reported it to the home office, who promptly sent out a broadcast notification telling their clients that this was a scam and what to do if you suspect a scam and how to detect a scam.
The scammers are idiots. I 'csught' them bc they asked for personal info that a REAL State Farm account rep would already have on their computer screen in order to contact me.
I don't answer numbers I don't recognize.
This one and a number of others have been calling from different states, claiming to be State Farm. A few left messages that my account was in default and I needed to call them IMMEDIATELY.
Instead, I called my State Farm agent IMMEDIATELY, and she informed me that, as I suspected, this was another pile of b.s.
Anyone who asks for your ssn, has no business knowing it. Anyone who has a legitimate claim with you, will already have it.
When in doubt, call your local representative, bank, insurance agent, etc.
They called my cell phone. I have an app that blocks unwanted/unknown numbers (but lets me look over a list of the numbers later...). They left a voicemail, and when I listened to it, it played some "wait music" before someone began talking. Said my name and some other stuff before (I guess) he realized he had reached voicemail. That was it.
Left message after I did not answer my cell phone. Message was "on hold" music, then an Indian voice saying "Hello? Hello? Hello?" I could hear other Indian voices in the background.
