I've had a bunch of those calls from various numbers - letter 'V' and a string of numbers. Usually they're connected to Vexaros (sp?), which is connected to MagicJack. Overseas scammers buy the MagicJack to make massive amounts of phone calls on the cheap - sometimes not bothering to change the 'default' CID. At least, that's what I've pieced together from these boards. ps - I agree that old Bill G seems...fishy.
Received call today. I did not answer since my caller ID did not reveal a caller name, just the number and location. Any call that I receive that does not identify the caller by name gets blocked. I do not answer 800 numbers, unavailable numbers, or anonymous numbers. If I do not know who the caller is and they do not leave a message then I can assume it was a telemarketer, scammer or someone I don't know and don't care to know. They get blocked.
Didn't recognize the number so didn't answer. Caller ID came up as "Unknown Name". This number will go on the call block list just like a hundred others....
