I've had a bunch of those calls from various numbers - letter 'V' and a string of numbers. Usually they're connected to Vexaros (sp?), which is connected to MagicJack. Overseas scammers buy the MagicJack to make massive amounts of phone calls on the cheap - sometimes not bothering to change the 'default' CID. At least, that's what I've pieced together from these boards. ps - I agree that old Bill G seems...fishy.
Sorry folks. The previous comments are no help at all. If you don't know s*** about the caller, you probably shouldn't take up your time (and ours) with drivel about not answering, speculation about spammers, etc.
CID: Allentown, PA
Everyone - PLEASE ignore the above comment from Bill G. Every bit of information helps - even if it is just a simple msg. stating that a particular number has called you repeatedly. It is how some of us determine whether a phone number is legit or - if the comments are all similar (i.e. hang-ups, no one there when you answer, no msg. left, automated voice, etc.) - it is a spam/scam number. There is little information about this number online so I decided to call it back. It goes straight to a detailed voicemail - the 'usual' about all representatives being busy (and included 'office' hours!!) - however, not once in the long recording does it state the company's name. This alone is a spam/scam red flag. The msg. also states that you can be removed from their call list but only IF you leave your name, complete address and phone number. Name and complete address for a Do Not Call list? I don't think so! Although there is a slim chance this number is somehow legit, I wouldn't bet on it - my advice is either block or ignore this caller in the future. And THANKS to everyone who takes the time to leave a post; it is appreciated by most of us. Sorry for the snarky attitude of "Bill G" - thankfully he is in the minority on this site.
It sounds like Bill G has something to do with the calls he is losing money from not being able to scam the ones that look up his new numbers.
There is 1 great piece of info in a comment here Caller ID listed "V21618272800" I have seen that before in these middle eastern scammers looking to pay for weapons with your money.
