Call back gets a robo voice saying "hello." If you answer, it launches into a recorded speech, "Good afternoon, this is Joe ???? with the Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Police." It goes on to get a confirmation of a donation amount. So that's what it is. As for these FOP donations read here:

The reason there are often conflicting reports of who or what is using a number is because these are often for-profit companies that collect on behalf of charities. Of course they take the lions share and are, in my humble opinion, nothing more than legal scam artists but legal nonetheless. There you go. Hope this helps.
Left no message! I read other post about fraternal order of police. I unfortunately answered one of those calls. They are relentless, and play on your sympathy by saying they are disabled etc. Most charities are scams w majority of the $ going to the higher ups and expenses w small % going to actual charity. Some years ago United Way CEO was busted for exorbitant salary and using funds to finance a penthouse apt used for sexual liaisons! Despicable!
These phony Police Organization scams are even worse. Calls increase in direct proportion with people's fears. And None of the money goes to cops - it never makes it past the robbers.
Sadly, if they're calling you know you're being scammed by some corrupt fundraiser / telefunder, calling on behalf of some partially named charity that also may be using deceptive, abusive, and unfair business call tactics. It's best to check the states charity database to find the legal name of charity and the fundraiser calling. In PA it's under Department of State that gives the legal name of "PA FOP Foundation" address: 2949 North Front Street Harrisburg, PA 17110 Phone 717-236-6981. http://www.charities.pa.gov/CharityDetail.aspx?f1hahh1jic55%3d98124 It doesn't show which telescammer they use and their website also doesn't disclose which solicitor they use. see http://www.pafopfoundation.org/
You have the right to demand placement on their internal do not call list under the FTC's TSR. Call the charity and ask which fundraiser they use and place your demand for placement on their internal do not call list @ 717-236-6981 The reason you want the charity fundraiser's name is because they'll just start calling under all the other charities they're hired to steal your money for.
