That's NOT true. Those companies will tell you the same thing, too. Look CLOSELY at the FTC code, and it does NOT say "research" companies are exempt. If you want to get specific - they'r soliciting for information. But in fact... government surveys and non-profit research are the ONLY exempt! I went head to head with a research CEO, and finally conceded I was correct.
I just received this call and then googled it and found this site. Call this number and just ask to be taken off the calling list. It will take 24 hours for it to go through. I followed the link http://fw-mi.com/ that some left and then looked at the 1-800 number and called it.

PS I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST ALSO, so why do we receive so many calls?
First call I've seen from this one! I am also on "do not call list." With so many folks having caller ID these days I can't imagine many picking up the phone!
Here's some enlightenment for you idiots posting on here:
For you posters which obviously know nothing and lack common sense, people who complete these phone calls are the reason any of you know anything about anything in the first place.
1. "im on the do not call list". Then whats the problem answering the phone? ONLY Telemarketers have to abide by this list you hold so highly. Research does not have to abide by this. Obviously if you get away from the TV for a sec to answer, you could tell them to put you on THEIR do not call list and that company wont call you again.
2. "Get a real job" - since when is mcdonalds considered a real job? we both do the same thing, provide customer satisfaction. (if you can keep your big head from exploding long enough to complete a little survey)
3. I answer and nobody is on the other end". A machine normally dials numbers and connects to an interviewer if someone answeres. Occasionally the computer will lag a few seconds which is why you wont hear anything right away.
4. "I dont know how they got my number" - If you have a phone, you have an accessible number nomatter who you are. Could be listed, or randomly dialed with specific area code/prefix for geographic demographics.
Summary: if your being called and are on the "do not call list", its not a sales call. Surveys are how we make things better FOR YOU. How are we too busy watchin tv to politely say "im sorry were not interested, please take us off your list" instead of complaining about "who called me? i dont know, i didnt answer but they keep calling me!
Have received several calls from this number identified as Market Strategies. They are a survey company. They do not leave messages on the answering machine. Apparently they say that they are exempt from the Do not Call list because they provide benefits to the customer and are not trying to sell you anything. I will check this out with the Do not call registry. You have the option of leaving a message to be added to their internal Do not call list, so I did. Hope that works. When I hit the caller ID button, apparently they have called a number of times and they say that they will only call 5 times before they give up.
