That's NOT true. Those companies will tell you the same thing, too. Look CLOSELY at the FTC code, and it does NOT say "research" companies are exempt. If you want to get specific - they'r soliciting for information. But in fact... government surveys and non-profit research are the ONLY exempt! I went head to head with a research CEO, and finally conceded I was correct.
This company has called three or four times a day now and I'm getting sick of it. The first time they called I didn't answer because I didn't know the number but then they started calling every day! I'm on the do not call list and don't understand how they got my number. The person on the phone asks for me and then asks if its really me, which is a stupid question in my opinion, and then hangs up. If you don't want to talk to me why are you calling me? It doesn't make any sense!
