Tried to rent me a house in Abilene, TX on Craigslist. The property has been rented out before and he used the owner of the house's name, so it seemed like everything was checking out. However, his English was poor and he said he was leaving the country for a few years with his wife for a program called "Serving in Mission" (program exists, but still a red flag). He gave this phone number to contact him, which looks like one that's been associated with a number a scams in the past.
I was interested in a home they supposedly had for rent in Houma La. I was very sketchy, my boyfriend luckily talked to him on the phone and we both agreed it was a scam before sending any money.
Sent an email saying he was a doctor in a bad accident resulting in the loss of motor functions (walking, talking, etc.). Has an ad on craigslist list here for renting a house for $400
Same thing in IL, very sketchy email and lovely home that you couldn't see inside until you paid the deposit.... This was the phone number in the email. I got. I knew it was to go good to be true, why do people have to be so awful, and get someone's hopes up that they have finally found just what they want and need only to find out its all a scam to steal your money. SO DISSAPOINTED IN PEOPLE!
