Left message on answering machine for my wife to call Sheriff's department at the number that called us. Probably a scam, there are a bunch of them out there that try to get you to pay to have a court summons removed, etc.
Followup to my original post: this phone number is listed for Lawrenceburg, KY, Zip code 40342. The message stated to call the Jefferson County Sheriff's office at 502-517-7391. Obviously a fake scam call whereby my wife would have been persuaded to send money to avert some kind of legal proceeding. We are old but still computer savvy and keep up with all kinds of scams including phone scams.
Further followup: reported this caller to the KY Attorney General's office. They told me it is a scam and they are currently investigating these calls.
Another update: I tried to obtain the name and other info about the owner of this phone number through Spokeo, but they did not return any specific data other than the location which was already available. I have filed a dispute with my bank to recover the $1.98 Spokeo charged me on my debit card for nothing. Do not deal with these so-called on line phone search providers, they do nothing and take your money.
