I've been calls from this number and I do not know it. Last call I got the guy asked for me by my first name and when I asked (politely) Who is calling please? he said ok then hung up. Each time they call they ask for me by my first name only. I have worked at call centers and I know that this is one of the tactics used to either get information (that you give out unwittingly) or "get thier foot in the door". Having worked at a marketing research firm I know that the agents ALWAYS tell you who they are and what company they are calling from, so this is definately NOT a legitimate research firm.
Whoever is using this number, chances are they are up to no good. I sus pect it is some sort of phishing scam. If you do a search for INTL NUMBER...you get some rather interesting results. None of which give any clue as to who the caller is. The only other bit of information I can give is that "intl" is the abbreviation for international. Draw your own conclusions but as far as I am concerned I will never accept calls from 503-207-0634 Portland OR. Which, oddly enough, is not far from where I live.
This person may not be a creep, but rather a legit company that had a server upgrade issue.
If you get a call from someone displaying this number, go ahead and answer. For all you know it is someone you know. If you don't know them, have them put you on their do not call list. If it is someone you know, do them a favor and forward them to this page with the solution below.
//PROBLEM
The phone number 5032070634 may appear to people you are calling if the following items are true:
o You use an Asterisk based server with FreePBX.
o You are a VoIP customer from the Portland, OR Rate Center.
o Your outbound CallerID is set as "Company Inc/<NPANXXNXXX/>"
o You recently did an upgrade to FreePBX.
//SOLUTION
If the above items are true, you need to change NPANXXNXXX to your actual phone number in the Outbound CallerID field.
In FreePBX 2.4.1.0, go to the Trunks tab. Inspect each of your configured outbound trunks for Outbound CallerID. Ensure that NPANXXNXXX is not displayed and your actual phone number is displayed. Also verify that Never Override CallerID is not checked. Submit your changes, then apply your configuration changes. Test the system for proper functionality.
This number calls our office but our system screens it out as a "nuisance call" but does give them the option of leaving a voice mail message which they do not choose to do. The calls from this number will never be answered so they are wasting their time and resources for something that we are not interested in.
My daughter got a call from this number on her cell phone. The caller called her by first name like she knew her and then the caller suggested she was a friend of my wife and I. She went so far as to ask if my wife was out with friends (and then named a couple of people by first name - none that matched people we know). My daughter was quite thrown off and suggested that the caller call the home number, which my daughter provided.
This was an adult women purposely deceiving an 11 year old to get information. I called this number back 5 minutes later and got a message indicating the number was no longer in service.
