I just received a phone call at work today from this number 508-203-1683. I have not called them back and since I have read all of this info I am not going to call them back either. They called my job so I will inform the front desk that this is a scam and to ignore them. Thank you so much for all of this info.
So a few months ago, I did inquire online about a payday loan, but decided to not follow through with anything because the terms were not agreeable to me, and my family stepped in to help me.
Well, about a month or so ago, I got a call from a 714 area code number, from some foreign lady telling me that there is an investigation on me about a payday loan, but she would not give me any information that I asked for, and when I asked to speak with a supervisor, she told me that I could not do so.
I told her I NEVER got a payday loan, no money was EVER deposited into my checking account, and that unless she could prove information to me, the conversation was over and I hung up.
She kept interrupting me, and then got mad at me when I told her it was BS, so I hung up.
Fast forward to today, and I get a call from this phone number, 508-203-1683, and the guy who was talking to me kept interrupting me, talking over me, and would NOT give me any information at all when I asked what the call was regarding, and then, when I got upset because he was rattling off information about my SSN, bank account info, and address, I told him to stop talking, and answer my questions. He started yelling at me, saying he was going to call my boss at a previous job and tell him what a bad person I am.
I was like, it is against the law to inform anyone else other than me of any of my personal information, and if this happens, I WILL be contacting my lawyer further.
The guy on the phone then demanded that I write down some information, I told him I refused to do so until he gave me VALID information about the regards to his call.
He kept interrupting me and telling me that I was being investigated, and when I asked for what, he still wouldn't tell me.
I got BELLIGERENT with him...who wouldn't ya know? Especially if someone you DON'T know is calling and has info about you.
So, I hang up.
Five minutes later, I get a call from an unknown phone number. Same guy. I tell him I never had a payday loan, never had any money into my account from a payday loan source, and he hangs up.
Not more than a minute ago, I get ANOTHER call, this time from an 800 number, 800-656-5015, and it's the SAME guy! I asked him what the call is regarding, AGAIN he interrupts me and talks over me, and then proceeds to say F*** you B**** over and over. I asked to speak with the supervisor again, as we all know LEGIT companies will provide a supervisor, and the guy again refused, saying that "Didn't I tell you, I am the supervisor?" I don't care who you are, I want to talk to YOUR boss.
I'm SICK of this...
I already can't afford a lot of things right now in my life, but I'm getting by, and for someone to try to scam me because I had INQUIRED about a payday loan, once? I work too hard for my money and to get by to be scammed by someone, and now I'm probably going to have to spend even MORE money that I don't really have right now to put alerts on my credit reports and such.
@Bewildered.....it's ironic that this has happened to you; due to the fact it has also happened to me to just yesterday! The reason I am able to respond to your post is due to the fact that my co-worker brought this letter that you have written to my attention---because IT JUST HAPPENED TO ME YESTERDAY! The only thing is---I never inquired about any payday loan---or any other loan for that matter-------and certainly never received one----because I just don't give out my account information that easy to just anyone! Also, my husband and I are looking to buy a home---and are in the process of cleaning up some old items on our credit----so we are not sure if that may have sparked some attention! However---I do bank online------pay bills online and have purchased ITEMS ONLINE-BUT WITH LEGIT COMPANIES! HOWEVER I was recently a victim of a scam of some UNKNOWN COMPANY trying to debit $49.99 out of my account------(which of course----MY BANK WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE) which later caused me to have to change my account number---of course with the same bank----no problem and stop all transactions trying to come through my account! Since then---I have been getting these crazy numbers with crazy area codes----they are foreign and they don't leave a message most of the time! But what did IT FOR ME was when they somehow got my job number and tried to contact me at work! The same thing you mentioned above---is basically the SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO ME!........they did speak to my Supervisors; but told them two different stories. The 508.203.1683 number was blocked; but of course they manage to come up with these other fictitious numbers or either UNKNOWN! I contacted the FTC, Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau to act on my behalf! All of them said that it was most likely a scam-----where theY get as much information about you as they can---and basically want you to provide more--and when they don't receive more then they get irrate and upset----and demand to speak to your Supervisors to tell them WHAT I DON'T KNOW-----IT'S CRAZY---BUT THEY OBVIOUSLY GET PAID TO DO THIS----the big thing I was told though was the fact that IT IS VERY MUCH ILLEGAL---THEY JUST TRY TO GET UP UNDER YOUR SKIN FOR AS LONG AS THEY CAN!----basically they say to not give in-------AND OF COURSE DON'T GIVE THEM ANY MORE INFORMATION-------ON TOP OF WHAT THEY SAY THEY ALREADY HAVE!........it's nerve racking----BUT ONE THING THEY WILL LEARN AND KNOW ABOUT ME----AND THAT YOU WILL NOT GET ANY INFORMATION ABOUT ME VOLUNTARILY---especially something as personal as MY FINANCES---CHECKING ACCOUNT INFORMATION ETC.....you stated that ANY LEGIT COMPANY WOULD PROVIDE SOMETHING FOR YOU----however they have not----EXCEPT FOR A WHOLE BUNCH OF YELLING---INCONVENIENCE OF IT ALL-----and ABOVE ALL----your social security number!....I too; have to contact all the credit bureaus and provide fraud alerts for me-----and whatever else so this will not happen to me again!.....They will give up for a while----but I will probably be certain that they will try again-----------when you think it's possibly over------GOOD LUCK!

Have gotten several calls from this number and when confronting thim several times I finally starting throwing all I knew about them back at them and the lady I was talking to broke and told me it was a scam and hung up on me.
