Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

WTF? Got a call from 508-458-6804. They didn't leave a message. I called back with *67. Amanda answered. I said I got a call from this number and asked if this was a business and why were they calling. She said she this was CSA and asked for my number and name. I said I just want to know what company was calling. She just kept refusing and kept asking for my info. I said all I want to know is who they were. She said, "Good luck" and hung up on me.
So, I called back and a guy answered. He didn't identify himself. I told him someone there just hung up on me when all I wanted to know what this company was. He also refused to give me any info until I gave him my name. I said no, you called me on a cell so it's up to you to give me YOUR info. He said, well, you're the one blocking your number, so give me your name because "it's a 2-way street." I said, WHAT?! I said I'm going to report this number and he said go ahead. I hung up on him.
If this is a collection agency of some sort, I have no idea why they're calling me. I don't have anything going into collections. Anyone with more info?
