hi - what is the phone # for the Official / US Gov do not call list? im getting a TON of marketing calls - afraid to use the #s on the web as im not sure they are credable
just an fyi to all out there - if it's your cell and you answer and get that long pause before someone talks, that's a robo call or auto dialer - and it's very illegal in the USA now - they are in violation of the TCPA laws and are subject to a fine for each call they make - I am not an attorney, but do know what I'm talking about, google it, I think it's like $1500 per call, don't erase the call history as proof of how many calls they have made
"I am not an attorney," Most definitely you are not. "but do know what I'm talking about" Not quite accurate. "I think it's like $1500 per call" If you actually knew what you were talking about you wouldn't have said "I think". You would have taken the time to actually read the law. In order to collect for TCPA violations you have to take the initiative and sue them. You then obtain a judgement. Fines are levied by government agencies and they get to keep all that money. The TCPA sets the rate at $500 per call with possible treble or actual damages allowed depending on the circumstances and the ruling by the Judge.
It is amazing how many people know the name of the law but are unable or unwilling to actually locate it on the internet and read it. TCPA: http://transition.fcc.gov/cgb/policy/TCPA-Rules.pdf
