A man called me from caller ID of 786-786 which is not a good phone number. I have a cell phone only and it is not published, so I don't know how he got my name and phone number. This man called me stating he is from the U.S. Department of Treasury and I have been selected to receive a one time grant of $7,900 and I don't have to pay taxes on it or pay it back. I have never applied for a grant of any kind. The man said I was selected since I pay my taxes on time and have not filed bankruptcy. He said the money would be put in my checking or savings account. I did not give him any information and when I stated he was not calling me from a good telephone number since 786-786 is not a good phone number, he gave me the phone number 509-587-3641 to call him back. I am not going to call him back, since I believe it is a scam.
I just got the same call from a non English speaking man from the 786-786 number, saying that I was to receive this $7,900 grant. He then wanted to know if I wanted it to go my bank account or cash in hand thru western union or Walmart... I said Walmart. I got an authorization code and another number to call 929-244-3566. No answer and I believe it was because I didn't give him an account number! I am mad... It's bad enough that I make minimum wage but to have someone get your hopes up. If it sounds to good to be true it usually is! I want to complain to someone who can do something... PLEASE
The call came from 786-786 , the number I was supposed to call back was 929-244-3566. This non English speaking man told me that I was to receive a one time grant of 7,900, and that it was not to be paid back or I would not have to pay taxes on it. It's a joke... I left a message that I was going to report him.
