I called them back. I knew it was a scam but wanted to know what they say. An asian guy answer the phone, he spoke a broken english and was very bold assuring me that I have to pay $3000 or I will be arrested and a bunch of other stuff. I question him and he hang up.
i got this message today too. The number came up in odd sequence or I may have answered it. Thanks for the info, Erick. That helps on what scam they were running.
OMG! Even I got the similar call.. I was shocked to hear their message and thought of searching the number once in internet and found this link.. Thx for creating the awareness.. :)
How I wish I had come to this site before. I wasted 15 minutes of my life thinking I had done something wrong with my taxes. I knew something was off, when I kept asking questions and the person kept trying to pressure me to pay almost $5,000 dollars. They were very clever in that they provided an IRS bade number (said he was Officer John Jameson, but spoke with an very heavy Asian accept.. when I purposely said I would "consider" paying.. he passed me on to his "supervisor" Officer Brian Cooper, who also had a very heavy accent. I get I got a little into wanting to know just how far they were going to take this bogus threat.. so I asked them to explain the process of payment. That's when it really got interesting. I was told to withdrawn xxx money from my bank.. go to Walmart and speak to the shop keeper there who would take my cask and turn it into a "money gram". When I asked who I was supposed to make it out to. "Officer Cooper" said that he couldn't give me that inforamation until I had the cash in my hand and then he would give me the instructions. Shopkeeper???? Walmart???? "Money gram"?? He also said that once I paid then an IRS agent would come to my house explaining why I had paid the money and sign paperwork to stop the warrant out against me. Are you kidding me? Who gives money with the "promisie" that within 24-48 hours an "agent' is going to come to my house and explain why I "allegedly" violated the law. Really pissed me off. I write all of this so others don't have to waste their time as I went though the "smell" test for you. Total BS!!!!
