Received call @ 6:56 pm on 4-20-2011. Caller ID reads Oakland CA. We do not know anyone in northern california, so didn't answer. No msg left on ans machine. Have been receiving a lot of calls from areas across the U.S. for various highly suspicious charities; often ID shown as "800 Service.". Will never respond to these scammers and identity thieves.
My Mom just got a call from that number. She didn't answer it, but I looked it up & found these informative posts. It disgusts me that there are people who would scam in the name of charities, but honestly, I'm not at all surprised. Thank you all for the info.
This number isn't even listed as a public number. They call ALL DAY LONG! Drives me nuts. I have caller ID so I just mute the ringer, they never leave a message. Don't bother answering another scam. So much for "National do not call" Lists! A joke. Everyone calls whenever they want. Can't get why having a phone should allow harassing calls all day. This web site is a true God send, I know when to call back and when to ignore, thanks everyone!
