This is the IRS. I spoke with an agent named Cheryl about form CP2000 I sent in as a result of a 1098 for my mortgage insurance not agreeing with what the bank submitted. Problem resolved.
I just got a call from that number. Didn't answer cause it didn't show the callers ID in the screen. Called back from another phone and got a recording machine informing that number has been disconnected. Weird.....
Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.
